The Fassina Balanyà Distillery Museum Plaça Mil·lenari, L’Espluga de Francolí Tel: 977 871 220 The Balanyà Fassina is an old factory which is engaged in the distillation of alcohol from the fresh grapes. Inside you can see, from the restored old machinery, the process for obtaining liquor. The Fassina Balanyà Francolí Espluga of the industry was a family that was dedicated to the production process of obtaining alcohol from the fresh grapes. The factory, which dates from the mid nineteenth century, was in operation until the early fifties and was closed for several reasons, one of which was the need for major reform that the owners could not assume . The closure and abandonment of the building allowed no alternative use, forty years later, maintained almost the same as they left. The old alcohol factory doors opened again in 2009 with a very different function. It is one of 25 museums in the industrial system of the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia, where it shows how the Fassina during the Spanish civil war. The tour helps Audiovisual and demonstration of a direct distillation of liquor and wine tasting.
