Typical Produce of the Conca de Barberà

The county offers such a wide range of traditional produce that there’s something for visitors of all tastes.

 

For the sweet-tooths, Montblanc is famed for its merlet and montblanquí  biscuits; while L’Espluga has its own type, carquinyolis. If you prefer the savoury, the chestnuts of Vilanova de Prades and cheeses of L’Albió are also renowned. Cured meats and sausages are prepared to local recipes in almost every village, as are coques –a type of Catalan pizza.

 

With all this, and the fine wines and cavas which carry the Conca de Barberà D.O., it’s a splendid place to savour some of the diverse delicacies of the Mediterranean Diet.
