La Conca de Barberà
The Conca de Barberà is located in the heart of The Cistercian Route, inland from the Costa Daurada and it is home to one of the most unique places in Catalonia, declared a World Heritage Site, the Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet.
Just a bit more than one hour by car from Barcelona, a few minutes from Port Aventura and the beaches, and from Tarragona and Lleida, the Conca de Barberà offers a wide range of proposals and cultural activities, in nature and leisure to enjoy your holidays at any time of the year.
The Conca de Barberà is half way between the beach and the mountain; it is land of passage and a mix of cultures.
In the Conca de Barberà it is easy to find different proposals for a family day out, or with your partner or with friends; stay here and savour the gastronomy, the traditional products and the Conca de Barberà D.O. wines.
In addition to visiting Poblet Monastery or strolling through the medieval streets of Montblanc, the visitor can travel back in time. You can go back to prehistoric times visiting l'Espluga de Francolí Caves or the rock paintings in Montblanc (World Heritage); continue in time and discover other mediaeval villages like: Conesa, Forès, Solivella, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Vallfogona de Riucorb...Or follow the footprints of modernism, a style that responds to the need to adapt to technological advances and the new social and business needs at the start of the XX century, like the modernist cellars, declared Sites of National Cultural Interest by the Catalan Government; taste wines from the DO Conca de Barberà and stroll through the vineyards; make activities in nature, like walking through the protected areas like Poblet Nature Park, the Prades Mountains, the Tossal Gros...; visit the museums and cultural places and get to know about the work done by our artisans...
Muntanyes de Prades was the second inland resort to be awarded the Family Holiday Destination seal. Consisting of the municipalities of l'Espluga of Francolí, Vallclara, Vilaverd, Vilanova de Prades and Vimbodí-Poblet, Alcover, Arbolí, La Febró, Capafonts, Mont-ral and Prades, the area is noted for its natural environment, a chain of mountains running just inland, that is ideal for outings with children.
